Last month we looked at why printers should form part of the RMM view. It was our most-read story.
This month, we want to take the conversation one step further.
Beyond the Icon
The value is not simply being able to see a printer icon next to a workstation or server. The opportunity comes from bringing useful printer intelligence into the environment where the service team already works.
What Printer Intelligence Looks Like in RMM
Through the connection between Nucleus, data collectors and RMM, information about printers and data collectors can form part of the same operational view as the wider IT estate. That includes:
- Device status and alerts
- Meter information
- Toner and consumable levels
- The health of data collectors
What This Looks Like Day to Day
Now consider what that means operationally.
If a data collector stops reporting, the service team can see that something needs attention—and, on the same screen, that the server is down. It becomes obvious to send an IT engineer.
If a printer generates an alert, that information is probably already part of your service workflow. Now you can see it on one screen alongside alerts from multiple data collectors and your IT monitoring.
One Screen, Not Two Worlds
When an engineer or support person looks at the customer, print no longer has to exist in a separate operational world from IT.
Printers, data collectors, and IT assets visible through one RMM front end.
That’s the goal.
